We have had a very busy week this week! Since Jeremy has gotten back from Seoul. he has been complaining of a leg cramp. So finally on Tuesday he went in to find out that he has a blood clot in his leg. After spending a night in the hospital things should be pretty well under control now and he will be on blood thinners for the next three months. It's never a dull moment! We have also decided that we have had enough of hospitals and doctors visits to last us until baby D arrives! :)

September 13, 2011

We got back last night from our "Babymoon" to Denver. We had a great time! To see the adventures of J, K and "bay-bay" click on the shutterfly link to the left.
We started our adventure by flying into Denver on Wednesday night. We decided to stay just north of the city in Westminister on Wednesday night. We were exhausted once we made it to the hotel!

Now what husband with a 30 week pregnany wife wouldnt take her on a Beer Tour??? That is right Jeremy treated me to a tour of the Coors distlery in Golden CO. I will give a little credit and even though I could not partake in the beer drinking, I settled for Root Beer, it was neat to see. The tour is free and you get a half beer sample part way through and THREE large beers at the end! We couldnt believe it! Jeremy skipped his last sample as I drew the line at driving into the mountains and also it was 10am. :)

After the beer tour we were headed into Aspen. We took the scenic route and drove through Leadville. It was a cute little town located up in the mountains. The views were great. It was time for lunch and there were not many options so we settled for the Leadville Legendary Saloon. It was quite the experience. Take a look at the pictures the decorations inside were very unique.

Independence Pass as our next stop. The drive was beautiful into Aspen. I did ok with the altitude. Once in Apsen we stayed at the Molly Gibson. It was a beautiful hotel at the base of the mountain. While we were there they filmed scenes for the Soap Opera Bold and the Beautiful on the side walk beside where we ate lunch outdoors.
We took a hike into Maroon Bells. The park was beutiful. The pictures of the mountain reflecting into the lake were unbelievable! I wasnt to keen of the sign stating that there was a bear "incident" not even a month ago but Jeremy insisted it wasnt a big deal.....to me an "incident" sounds worse that a bear "sighting" or "encounter". "Incident" to me means a bear attacked a person! Although it may just have been my imagination getting away from me we never did find out what kind of an "incident" occured.

The Grottos were the next stop for the day. This is where the ice caves were and some small waterfalls. Jeremy did the most exploring in the Grottos as I was a little tired from the hike and Maroon Bells. The ghost town was the last hike for the day. I wasnt very happy with myself that I hiked the way down the ghost town and then look up and thought to my self well that was a steep hike down and I am now very tired and out of breath! I turned right around and started making my way SLOWLY to the car as Jeremy explored. It was a long day of hiking and we had a nice dinner out in Aspen that night.

While in Maroon Lake the previous day we came across a guy that suggersted hiking at Hanging Lake. Although he kept referring to the hike and not knowing if a person in "my condition" could hike Hanging Lake I decided to google Hanging Lake when we got back the hotel and decided that whatever "condition" I was in....he made it sound like I was dying or something, I mean come on I am pregnant not suffering from the plague!......I needed to see Hanging Lake, it looked beautiful!

We decided to take the long way to our next stop in Vail so we could see Hanging Lake. The reviews said that to plan 2-3 hours and many previous hikers had taken their kids so I decided that if we took it slow I could do it. It was quite the hike, 1.2 miles and we climbed 1,000 feet up. It was mostly rocks, rock stairs, switch backs and some dirt hills. I was not the only one that needed frequent breaks, there were many others, the only ones not needing the breaks were the young kids who seemed to run the whole way. The last portion of the climb is a very steep rock cliff that you NEED to hang on to the railings. Once up there it was beautiful! The lake and the waterfalls were very neat. The trek down was much easier! Although by the time we got down my legs were shaking. We wer very glad we did it and completed the trip in 3.5 hours.

We made it to Vail by late afternoon. We met Ryan, Jeremy's cousin and his girlfriend Rochelle out for dinner that night. They took us to an italian place were we had a great dinner and dessert. We spent a few hours out to dinner with them and were very tired by the time we were finished.

We met Janelle, a childhood friend of mine the next morning for coffee. It was great to catch up with her before she needed to work for the day. Jeremy and I decided that we would drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park as we were both hiked out. We saw five Elk and Marmots. Not great wildlife but for the middle of the day we didnt expect to see much. There is one picture where you can see three of the Elk.

The trip was coming to an end. We headed back to Denver. We stayed in a great hotel downtown Denver. I was missing my King Bed at home so asked for one at the hotel. The guy checking us in decided that I deserved a complimentary king suite. I didnt argue! The hotel also puts goldfish in your room at your request. :) We headed to the 16th street Mall for dinner. Denver was quite a bit warmer than the mountains.

The last day we werent flying out until late that night so we explored Denver. I found some boutiques to look at and Jeremy enjoyed REI. We planned to go to the art museum but once there found out that the museum is closed on Mondays. So we walked around and headed to the airport.

We had a great trip! As Jeremy put it we were both in NEED of a vacation. And although the baby still has 10 weeks to go until 40 as Jeremy put it we are now ready for baby! :)

ENJOY!

PS-Finley got a vacation to G and G Edbergs while we were gone and it looks to us like he was a spoiled dog while away. He has been sleeping on his pillow since we got home. He obviously loved the walks and fetch it sessions with G and G Edberg.

We are so blessed to be expecting a baby November 20th. Talk about being excited, we can hardly contain it. Friday July 1st the grandparents are being delivered cupcakes that will either hold pink or blue frosting in the center. Once the cupcakes are eaten we will update the blog with boy or girl! :)

This week is my 20th week of pregnancy and it is the first week that I can say that I feel the baby moving around on a daily basis even more than once a day. It is an amazing feeling! The baby gets the movements going about the same time I sit down at my desk in the morning at work and the movement is again at times during the day but picks up again around 8pm.

Jeremy says we are officially ready to start the nursery and I could not be more excited. :)

Baby Dorick- Squirming away...we are SO in love!!

Fall is here!

I wasnt great about updating the blog over the summer!
Since the last post here are our updates:
Anniversary- I planned Saturday July 31st as a suprise day for Jeremy. I planned a day in Taylors Falls. We went and spend the day hiking and sight seeing. It was wonderful!
Sunday morning we woke up and JEremy was suprising me with the plans for Sunday, our anniversary. He got me in the car and wouldnt give any hints where we were going. Well, we arrived at Stouts Island Lodge in Wisconsin. At first the parking lot he pulled into looked like a run down shack, no kidding, he even had a nervous look on his face :) Then we found the ferry we boarded and they took us to the island. The place was wonderful! Very relaxing and fun!

I had a friends bachelorette party and wedding in August and we ended the summer at Breezy for Labor Day weekend.

I started grad. school over the summer. I am getting my certificate in addiction studies so I can become a licensed drug and alcohol counselor. I finished one class this summer and am currently taking two more classes. My plan it to tie it in to the social work masters program that I will be applying to this fall to hopefully start next fall, they have a long waiting list!

The company that Jeremy works for was bought by an investment firm. So fare changes havent been noticeable and arent expected on a large scale. Jeremy is doing more estimating with fewer project manager jobs.

Jeremy's parents and Brad and Kate are coming to MN to visit the second weekend in October, we are very excited! The house will also hopefully be finished by then ;) We started in on the basement. So far we had everything torn out. My dad and Jeremy got the ceiling put in this week. Jeremy has the bathroom almost finished. Yet to be done is the walls need to be painted, ceiling, and carpet. It will SO nice to have it finished.

The Finley update: He is probably about 45-50 pounds. He isnt very tall but growing. He has a habit of going into the shower and eating the soap! THe only side effect to this that we have noticed is that 1. we got through soap more often and 2. he has very strong smelling DOVE breath. He loves the dog park and playing with the other dogs!

Well, I think that is all for now. I PROMISE that I will be pictures updated this weekend. There will be lots, check them out!

Hope everyone had a great summer and is having a great start of the school year!

XOXO Kristin and Jeremy

Busy Summer!

Jeremy and I have had a very busy and fun summer!
Last weekend was our first weekend home since Memorial Weekend.

Summer (so far) re-cap:
-The first weekend in June we were able to fly to Chicago to suprise Jeremy's dad at his retirment party. It was a quick weekend home to Chicago that consisted of a good party with family, the guys shooting the BB Gun at pop bottles (I may have joined in), and finally a stormy day with Karen and I in the basement playing pool and sharing some wine while the guys check out the storms from the deck.
-There were two fishing trips in June. first the Edbergs all went up to Leach Lake and well all we heard from the trip was a bunch of fish stories. Then Jeremy and I, and my parents along with my grandparents met Karen and Alan out in Algoma. Girls did some shopping while the guys fished. This trip resulted in more fish stories and also the girls getting their breakfast paid for by another large fishing group of guys.
-July 4th we had a beautiful weekend up at Breezy Point. And then the next weekend we were off to Mercer, WI to meet with Jeremy's family. What a great weekend! Beautiful cabin, kayaking, sailing, biking, hiking, waterfalls, and games.
-It was another year for us at BBQ Days bean bags tournament in Belle Plaine the third weekend in July. Jeremy was the 2008 champ and well this year with the luck of the draw we were partners, yes, husband and wife. Next year I am making a rule that husband and wife pairs and not permited.

Well that gets us up to date on our big weekends. Other updates: Finley is growing like a weed. This week he even gained his spiderman skills and climbed over our chain link fence. I didnt even know this was possible! But our neighbor witnessed it and she said it was quite the sight. As for the rest of our summer, we have small trips planned for our anniversary weekend this weekend, Jeremy's aunt Sue and David's wedding in Michigan on the 14th, and I have two bachelorette parties in August to attend- Jenna will be getting married on August 28th (my personal attendant), and Becca October 9th.

House projects are wrapping up. We are just finishing up putting some landscaping plants and rock in the backyard and then Jeremy will be starting on the basement. Pictures will be updated by next week from our summer so far!

Enjoy! :)

We hope that everyone is having a great start to 2010!
2010 has been a busy year for us so far. We spend New Years snowmobiling up north and then went to Florida the middle of January to visit with Jeremy's grandparents. The weather wasnt super warm but definetly better than Minnesota :)
I will say that February is also a big month, its my birthday month and Valentine's Day (dont forget Jeremy ;) We are looking forward to spending Valentines weekend in Duluth. We are planning on relaxng and doing some cross county skiing.
Well I think that finished our small update, I also will be putting pictures up from our honeymoon from November on the shutterfly page. We went to Aruba Thanksgiving week and had a fabulous time. We decdied it was the most tropical climate we have spend a week in it was 90 some degrees during the day and even into the evenings. Aruba also has a constant 15-20 mile and hour "blow". You will notice this from the hair in some of the photos, although one day I said enough is enough and bought a hat! Without this wind I really think the temperatures would have been close to unbearable. Many nights we get in from being out in the sun all day and realize oh I guess we got more sun than we thought...We had a great time and would recommend Aruba to anyone although we would say that it was way more "Americanized" than we expected.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Jeremy and I had a great Christmas holiday getting to see a lot of family. With all the snow that Minnesota received last week we were hopeful but not expecting to get home to Chicago on Christmas day. Jeremy had off on Christams Eve and i was supposed to work. Well it hasnt happened in many years but Scott County closed its offices due to the expected weather for Christmas Eve.

Jeremy and I started our Christmas Eve by running a few last errands before heading down to Belle Plaine. Jeremy took me to Target to get my very own shovel (man and I lucky!). We then shoveled the driveway and sidewalks and picked Anne up as the weather started to get worse. Just imagine what the three of us in the front of Jeremy's red ranger looked like going down the highway with us and presents filling the cab and suitcases in the bed of the truck. We made it down in time to leave for church. Not that I was counting or anything, church service was immensly quick this year 50 minutes! That was nothing compared to the 2.5 hour service last year! We ate way to much food and played games at my parents house with my parents, brother, Anne, Jeremy and I and my mom's sister Jackie and son Adam. It was a small Christmas this year!

Christmas morning went fast. We had a little commotion that morning as smoke filled the basement and fearing the worst, another chimney fire, dad comfimed that it wasnt a chimney fire after "playing Santa Clause" by crawling up on the roof, leaning a ladder against the chimney and crawling up to examine the situation. We wont get into the long details of what all unfolded but will add to never underestimate what a mouth full of water and drinking straws will do. We didnt have much time to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Edberg as we would of liked but we were able to fit in a quick glass of wine and we were off for the airport.

The airport was empty when we got there so there was no trouble getting through security. The plane was even emptier, only 20 or so of us aon a full size airplane! That makes for a quick departure and arrival to Chicago. Jeremys dad picked us up at the airport and we headed down to Grandpa and Grandma Jameson's house for Christmas. We celebrated with them and headed back to Jeremys parents and opened presents with Jerems parents and Brad and Kate.

Saturday morning we headed to Davenport Iowa to celebrate with the Dorick side. More presents, food and games made for a fun night! The sledding was the best. Fish, Brad and Kate's black lab burnt off some energy by chasing everyone down the sledding hill. Sunday brought some hiking through Scott County (Iowa) Park.

We had some great family quality time this Christmas! We are very thankful that the weather worked with us and allowed us to travel 3 different states this Christmas.

Jeremy and my travels are not quite done for 2009. We are headed tomorrow to Causeway on Gull to spend the rest of the week and New Years with my parents at their timeshare. Snowmobiling, ice fishing, skiing, tubing, hottubing....here we come!

Hope everyone had a great, safe and happy holiday!

PS-Jeremy got me a GREAT new camera for Christmas so be looking for some great pictures soon!
